BCP Cultural Compact Newsletter (November 2025)

Hi Everyone,

As promised, here is the first of our monthly newsletters, shouting out about some of the upcoming/ongoing opportunities here in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole.

From the Cultural Compact:

We have two Cultural Compact events scheduled before the end of the year. Our final Environmental Sustainability workshop is happening next Tuesday 1st December from 2-5pm at Pavilion Dance in Bournemouth. Tom Clarke from National Trust is our guest speaker and we’ll be exploring ways the local creative sector is adapting to the climate crisis.

On Thursday 4th December, 7-9pm, we’ll be in Christchurch for our final culture network event of 2025. We’ll be introducing artists and organisations to each other and holding space for anyone wishing to share work/information within the community. To book free tickets, use our Linktree here: https://linktr.ee/CulturalCompact

And SAVE THE DATE for Wednesday 28th January, as we’ll be announcing our next Culture Network event soon – it’s sure to be a big one!

From Access BEAF:

Sharon James is the Global Majority Coordinator for Access BEAF. Their aim is to provide support and opportunities for artists from the global majority across Dorset. It’s completely free to join, and they offer professional development, exhibition opportunities, peer support, and critique sessions.

Anyone who’s interested can contact Sharon at sharon.accessbeaf@gmail.com.

From Activate Performing Arts:

From Auger Collective:

Auger Collective invites artists and non-artists alike to take part in Paper Thin, a group exhibition celebrating the fragile, transformative, and inventive potential of society. They’re looking for work that engages with the idea of paper as technology.

You have until the 28th November to apply, see here for more details: https://www.auger.gallery/events/open-call-paperthin.

From BCP Council:

Following from our Environmental Sustainability workshops, we wanted to share the details for the next and final Carbon Literacy for SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) course. It will take place online over two half day sessions on Monday 2nd and Thursday 5th February 2026, 9.30am-1pm both days. The course is open to businesses (including micro-SMEs) based in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, information and sign up can be requested by emailing carbonliteracy@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

Carbon Literacy is an accredited course focused on increasing climate education and awareness, covering topics such as climate change, impacts, adaptation, the co-benefits of climate action, and the influence organisations and groups can have on creating a more sustainable future. The aim of completing the course is to come away with the knowledge and motivation to operate in a more sustainable way, which could deliver carbon and financial savings.

From Lighthouse Poole:

Lighthouse have asked me to share details about Carmel De’Lisser’s new exhibition, ‘The Wintering’, which opens this week and runs in the Main Gallery until 3rd January, moving on from CODA:

The gallery space will be transformed into an organic woodland themed installation. A denlike structure will be created within the space as well as a space for workshops. Perfect for mindful moments and interaction, creating a space where people come to “Exhale”.

Upcoming events include:
