BCP Cultural Compact Newsletter (January 2026)

It’s been a bit of a month, hasn’t it? I hope you’re keeping safe and have enjoyed a positive start to the new year. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us on Wednesday for our most recent Culture Network event – we had over fifty people join us at TOSH for an evening of conversation. Here are some incredible things happening soon across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole –

From The Cultural Compact: Our next Culture Network event has just been announced! It’s happening at Poole Museum on Thursday 26th March, from 5.30-8pm. The exact content is still to be confirmed, but we’re anticipating a panel discussion featuring local artists alongside a structured networking session.

We’ll also be sending out more information soon following our Environmental Sustainability workshops last Autumn, which has led to exciting conversations and ideas we’re keen to action.

From In the Making:

In the Making is a monthly platform for emerging Dorset-based artists, with inclusivity at its heart. Designed to help artists bring ideas into reality and progress their practice, each event features two short plays, an open mic for poetry, spoken word, comedy, and music and concludes with an industry professional and artist Q&A. There’s also plenty of time to mingle, form creative connections, and take part in optional networking games.

      • First event: 7th March at The Factory Space, Iford

      • First Saturday of every month

      • Tickets on sale 1st February

Visiting Artist Open Call (Creation Residency)

    Deadline: 28 February

Our Visiting Artist scheme is open to any UK artist working in a dance or movement-based practice who would benefit from a short studio residency. It is an open-call scheme and there are two awards available – one to an artist based in the south-west region and one to artists based anywhere in the UK. Dance artists who have a specific live performance project to progress or finish are invited to apply for our summer award. We are particularly interested in artists who have not worked with us before and are interested in sharing their practice with others.
